Saturday 01 Jan 2005.  Myself and reporter Bob McNeil from TV3 News (New Zealand) kit up in full surgical gowns to enter the area where more than 2000 rotting corpses lay in the town of Takuapa, north of Phuket, Thailand, waiting for international disaster forensic teams to identify them.  Dry ice used to cool the corpses floats above the ground and the place has the surreal feel of a science fiction movie set, however once we arrive in the area where the teams are working the only thing it resembles are scenes from the holocaust, the smell is overwhelming and a lot of the bodies are in a terrible state, the photo on the right only gives the faintest hint of the horrors we witnessed here, if you don't like what you see, don't enlarge the image.
