Update from the night :
3am Saturday 29 Jan : Kaeo cut off and the town inundated by floodwaters,
people were trapped in their houses
we made attempts to help Fire and Police get to and rescue these people
using the truck but the water was too deep, a boat was then used by members
of the Kaeo and Mangonui Fire brigades and the Police to rescue about
20 people whom Brad and I then drove thru deep floodwaters to safety in Kaeo.
